The starting point

What needed solving.

The background

LM Espace Vert is a landscape gardener based in Saint-Didier-au-Mont-d'Or: garden design, maintenance, tree pruning and hard landscaping, across the Monts d'Or and west Lyon.

The constraint

Landscaping is a strongly seasonal trade: enquiries pile up in March and April and vanish in November. A site that only talks about garden design exists for three months of the year.

The response

Spread the services across the calendar. Tree pruning is searched for in autumn, maintenance contracts in winter, garden design in spring, watering in summer. Each service has its page and its season; the site generates enquiries twelve months a year.

The scores recorded at delivery.

Lighthouse scores for the live site. We publish them as they are: when one is low, its cause and the plan to fix it are set out below rather than glossed over.

Design & art direction

Every design choice, and the reason for it.

  1. Seasonal photography

The gallery shows gardens at different times of year, not just in full May bloom. A customer ordering in October needs to picture the garden in October.

  2. The maintenance contract given prominence

It is the most profitable and most stable service, and the one almost always relegated to the bottom of the list. Here it has its own page and its own case.

  3. A plant-based palette, but not green everywhere

Deep green for the identity, earth and stone for the structure. A landscape gardener's site that is green all over becomes tiring within two screens and overwhelms the photos.

Engineering

What's under the bonnet.

  • Next.js
  • React
  • Tailwind
  • Vercel
  1. A gallery split by service

Each service loads its own visuals. The tree pruning page does not download the hard landscaping photos.

  2. A form with service selection

The service field is pre-filled from the page the visitor came from. The gardener knows what it is about before even reading the message.

Search engine optimisation

How the site makes itself findable.

  1. A calendar of searches

“Élagage automne Monts d'Or” (autumn tree pruning), “contrat entretien jardin Lyon” (garden maintenance contract), “création jardin Saint-Didier” (garden design). The pages are conceived as a calendar of enquiries rather than as a catalogue.

  2. Anchored in the Monts d'Or

The towns of the Monts d'Or are named one by one. The area is affluent, sparsely populated and has very little online competition: each town is an easy position to take.

Services mapped onto the search calendar.

  2. Design

Seasonal photography, a palette that is not uniformly green.

  3. Development

    Galleries per service, contextual form.

  4. SEO

One page per service and per season, towns of the Monts d'Or.

Questions

What we are often asked.

By no longer selling a trade and selling four services instead, each with its own search season. The landscape gardener who only talks about garden design disappears for nine months a year; the one with a tree pruning page exists in November.
